Lighting for People of Color: How to manage Camera in Glasses to Work Properly With all Skin Colors

  • How do you properly balance for all people but specifically for people of color when lighting for features, television, theatre and/or touring musicians? What techniques are needed to insure that every principal in a scene or on a stage is presented in their best light? Today’s camera sensors and lighting options offer so much flexibility. How do we truly optimize the environment to take full advantage of the technology and opportunities? In this session, lighting expert Christian Epps, will speak with us about his career and the art and science of proper lighting for all skin tones. During his illustrious career he has provided lighting services for the likes of director’s Spike Lee and Ava DuVernay; films like Selma and Sylvia Love; Artists like Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé; series such as American Horror Stories and Lovecraft Country and for theatre on broadway.
