Sam Nicholson, ASC, is CEO and founder of Stargate Studios, an international production company that specializes in visual effects and virtual production. A graduate of the UCLA Masters School of Fine Arts, Sam has been involved in film and television production for over 40 years, beginning as on-set visual effect supervisor on Star Trek: The Motion Picture. From there he and Stargate have provided multiple seasons of award-winning visual effects Including “The Walking Dead”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “24” and “Heros”. In addition to overseeing the operations of multiple Stargate VFX facilities, Sam recently served as Virtual Production Supervisor on HBO’s “Run” and is currently Virtual Production Supervisor on HBO’s “Our Flag Means Death” and ABC’s “Station 19”. Sam is also a long-time member of the ASC, DGA, and the Visual Effects Society.
