Siegfried Foessel holds a diploma and doctorate in electrical engineering from the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Erlangen, Germany. He is head of the Moving Picture Technologies department at Fraunhofer IIS, Erlangen, and Professor for Technology at the University of Television and Film HFF in Munich. He is spokesman of the Fraunhofer Business Area Digital Media. His main research topics are image and video processing for broadcast and movie production. Siegfried is member and chair of various national and international standardisation bodies. He is SMPTE fellow and IEEE senior member with more than 70 publications.
